Biography
Before joining our Migration Law Research Group, Jean-Baptiste completed his PhD at UCLouvain (Belgium). In December 2020, he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on the EU labour immigration policy under the supervision of Prof. Sylvie Sarolea and Prof. Jean-Yves Carlier. Today, in addition to his position in our research centre, he is a practising lawyer and an EU policy advisor at Fragomen, an international immigration services firm in Brussels, as well as scientific collaborator at UCLouvain.
Jean-Baptiste’s research interests are situated in the field of EU law and immigration law, with particular attention for labour immigration. He has published various articles on the EU labour immigration policy, the principle of equality in immigration law as well as the status of non-removable migrants.
Before embarking on a doctoral research, Laura worked as a (trainee) policy advisor at the European Parliament, where she focussed on inter alia European migration and asylum policy. Since January 2019, she is also a city councillor in Koekelare.
