Biography
Education
Aliona Debisschop started Biomedical Sciences at Ghent University in 2017 and obtained her Bachelor’s degree with great distinction (magna cum laude) in 2020. In 2022, she obtained her Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences for the Major Immunity and Infection with greatest distinction (summa cum laude). Aliona performed her master thesis under supervision of Prof. Dr. Sarah Gerlo from the Department of Biomolecular Medicine of Ghent University and conducted her experiments at the HIV Cure Research Center (HCRC). There, she developed a bispecific nanobody tethering cytotoxic T lymphocytes to HIV infected cells as a new HIV cure strategy. In October 2022, Aliona started her PhD in the Laboratory of General Biochemistry and Physical Pharmacy (Ghent University), titled “Development and evaluation of nanoformulations for inhalation of RNA therapeutics”. She is guided by her promotor Prof. Dr. Koen Raemdonck.
Scholarship
Aliona’s project is funded by an ERC Consolidator Grant obtained by Prof. Dr. Koen Raemdonck.
